Coaching

In a nutshell

Coaching supports people going through periods of difficulty, change, development or uncertainty. You might feel unsure about your next move, or perhaps you know what needs to be done but struggle to take that initial step. Sometimes, despite your efforts, things simply aren’t progressing as expected.

Through structured conversation and the right emotional support, we can tap into your inner resources to find and implement solutions that work for you. Whether it’s taking the first step or the next many, let’s move forward together!

Who can benefit from coaching

I offer individual coaching for adults who find themselves at a point where their usual ways of living and solving problems are no longer sufficient.

Common reasons people seek coaching include:

  • feeling stuck or unable to move forward
  • experiencing burnout, stress, or exhaustion
  • going through a period of change or transition
  • struggling with decision-making or direction
  • feeling disconnected from themselves or their work
  • having insight into their situation, but noticing that this alone is not enough

You do not need to be in a crisis to start coaching. Sensing that something needs to change could be enough, even if it appears as a gradual loss of direction or a feeling that your way of living is no longer aligned with your inner values. Coaching offers a space to pause, to understand what is happening, and to begin moving forward in a slightly different way or with more insight.

How can coaching help?

Coaching has evolved naturally from our need to discuss our problems with other people (more details in my blog post). Unlike a discussion with your friend about what bothers you, in coaching the conversation is more structured. This helps keep the focus on understanding the situation and eventually finding a way forward that fits you. It is not advice-giving, nor is it based on ready-made solutions. Instead, we explore together what feels difficult or blocking in your current situation, such as limiting beliefs, emotional blockers or fears. This process makes hidden or unclear problems more visible and understandable, making change possible by drawing on solutions like past successes or people who can help. This is especially helpful for those used to solving problems independently who find their usual methods insufficient.

These blockers often manifest in practical, everyday challenges. For instance, you might experience:

  • Limiting Beliefs & Impostor Syndrome: You might feel like a “small kid” in a room of experts despite your qualifications, or tell yourself you are “not good with people,” which stops you from taking on leadership roles.
  • Disconnect from Values: You may find yourself “betraying yourself” to fulfill an ideal of being “good” or polite, leading to deep frustration when your actual energy and drive are suppressed.
  • Unclear Direction: You might have a vague desire for “influence” or “impact” without a concrete plan, making it impossible to measure progress or take the first step.
  • Lack of Focus: You might struggle with doing “10 things at once,” which acts as a barrier to achieving the deep knowledge or potential you know you are capable of.

Here is how we tackle together these challenges:

  • To address Limiting Beliefs and Impostor Syndrome: We work to expose the roots of these beliefs, questioning when they became true and what purpose they serve now. We will use tools like Cognitive Behavioural Coaching to challenge negative thoughts by examining the evidence and reframing the situation to find new perspectives.
  • To resolve Disconnection from Values: We explore your underlying motivations and purpose, helping you identify the core values that truly drive you. This process leads to decisions and actions that feel authentic rather than self-betraying.
  • To clarify Unclear Direction: We apply structured processes, such as the GROW model, and use “chunking” questions (“specifically how?” or “what exactly?”) to break down vague desires like “influence” or “impact” into measurable, actionable goals. This replaces uncertainty with a clear roadmap.
  • To combat Lack of Focus: We establish a clear focus at the start of every session through techniques like Agenda Mapping, ensuring that our time together is channeled toward a specific outcome. We also use creative questioning, such as “What else?”, to generate a range of focused options, so you always have a Plan B or C for persistence beyond setbacks.
